Requirements for Marriage in the State of Tennessee are as follows:
-The licenses are good for 30 days in any county of Tennessee. If you will be getting married in another state, you will need to contact them to see if they accept a TN marriage license.
-There are no blood tests and no waiting period.
-Two valid forms of ID.
Acceptable Forms of Identification (All ID's must be issued in the English language)
-Both parties have to be present, unless one is incarcerated. If one party is incarcerated, the other party must bring 2 forms of ID for the one incarcerated and also must have a relative of the incarcerated party to sign for them.
-Applicants must be 18 years or older.
-Marriage requirements for juveniles 16 or 17 years of age:
Both parents must be present at time of application.
The natural parents must present a picture ID plus a Social Security Card.
Juveniles under 16 years of age must have a court order.
-The price is $33.50 with premarital counseling. (Click here for counseling form. The person conducting the counseling must sign the form and have it notarized before we can accept it.)
-The price is $93.50 without premarital counseling.
-Copies of Marriage Certificates may be obtained at the County Clerk's office for $3.00 each. The mailing address is listed below. If you were married before November of 1998 then you may obtain a copy from the Wilson Co. Archieves located at 111 S. College St. and their phone number is 615-443-1993.
Acceptable forms of payment include cash, debit or credit card. A 2% fee plus $.25 will be charged when credit or debit cards are used.
When applying for a marriage license online, if you or your parents were born in another country, enter in FO under the birthplace state field.
